ROGUE OPERA VOLUNTEER NEEDS

Here are just a few ways you can become involved with Rogue Opera!

Administration
Volunteers are needed for filing, alphabetizing, data entry, and copying. Other departmental needs include assembling of mailings, collating, typing, and sorting of press clippings and computer skills. Training and instruction will be provided as needed. Helpful to have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, such as Excel and Word, but not necessary.

Artist’s Buddies

Providing housing, drivers, dinner companions and sponsors.

Costumes
For Productions: Assist with sewing and non-sewing costume projects in advance of scheduled productions. Volunteers are needed to assist with stitching (hand and machine), embroidery, needlepoint, beading and other special detail work. Some expertise is helpful, but training will be provided.

Development Committee

Be a host for special events (desserts, teas), assist with office tours, help with invitation mailings or make fund raising/performance follow up calls and thank-you calls to the opera’s supporters.

Fund Raising Events: (silent auctions and dinner events) Duties include: Data entry, Processing of dinner reservations, Working with sponsors to ensure benefit fulfillment, Categorizing silent auction items, Working with event logistics the day of the event, Sending acknowledgment letters to donors, Processing of tickets

Newsletter

Volunteer needed to help assemble quarterly newsletter. Information will be provided.

Opera in The Schools Support
Volunteers are needed to work in and assist in all areas of the educational program!  Clerical assistance, phone calls to schools, coordination of transportation, assistance with publicity regarding the program, on site assistance during performances, are just a few of our needs as well as follow up calls to principals to assess quality of program.

Poster Distribution
Volunteers are invaluable  with the distribution of main stage/concert posters to local businesses, restaurants, and retail shops. Volunteers needed in Ashland, Medford, Grant Pass areas and neighboring communities. Distribution list and directions provided.
 

Production Assistance

Volunteers are needed as ushers for selected performances. Assistance is needed for loading and unloading equipment for performances, backstage assistance as stagehands, children “wranglers”, stand-ins for cast during tech/lighting rehearsals. Volunteers are also need for backstage assistance with dressing, hair and makeup. 

Publicity/Marketing

Representative needed to attend Chamber Greeters in Medford, Ashland and Grants Pass and Heart of Medford to be an ambassador for Rogue Opera and to distribute post cards or business cards. Also needed is someone to oversee press releases to various publications, radio, television and other media.

Rogue Opera History
Volunteers are needed to assist with creating and the editing of oral interviews with the founder, and various people who have helped build Rogue Opera, to guarantee and accurate and in-depth history of the organization maintained. Also needed are scrapbooks chronicling the past 10 years of Rogue Opera.

Sponsors/In-Kind

Volunteers can assist with development or referral of corporate and private sponsors, solicitation/recommendation for program ads, and development of business in-kind support.

Tickets for Youth
Assistance with communicating with schools, tracking use of tickets, distribution of tickets, development of sponsors, coordination of any special events related to the program.

Year Round

 In the off-season volunteers are needed to assist with the organization and maintenance of costume storage and stock. One on one instruction and guidance is provided.

Hospitality

Need coordinator and helpers for receptions following “Voices from the Valley Concerts” and Receptions for Cast, Donors and Volunteers.
